Camillus, N.Y. – Cameron Group LLC will soon present plans to build a hotel in the bustling Township 5 retail, office, residential complex in Camillus.
The group has not yet presented plans for the 85-room hotel to the Town of Camillus planning board, said Kevin Langan, speaking for the developer. More information will be coming soon, he said.
A sign at the shopping center off Route 5 says that a “Tru by Hilton” is coming soon, along with a Petco.
A presentation on Cameron’s website in 2012 contained a hotel for the site that has apartments, medical offices, a Movie Tavern, a Costco, several restaurants and shops.
Tru is a new mid-scale hotel franchise aimed at business and leisure travelers. Hilton Hotels unveiled the new brand in January. Tru hotels offer guests free DIRECTTV, wi-fi and breakfast, as well as a place to buy snacks and single servings of beer and wine.
Tru broke ground on its first hotel in Georgia in March.
Township 5 is a $58 million project that includes 500,000 square feet of retail, residential and office space.
