Camillus, N.Y. — The Costco coming to Township 5 in Camillus is set to open next month.
The store will open Oct. 24, according to Costco’s website. It’ll be the first Costco in Upstate New York.
No one from the company could be reached for comment.
Costco, a warehouse club, is just one of several tenants scheduled to open at the Township 5 mixed-used development this year. Work on buildings for GNC, Buffalo Wild Wings and LongHorn Steakhouse is coming along as well.
Township 5′s developer, the Cameron Group of DeWitt, has said nearly all of the development’s retail tenants will open this year.
The tenant list also includes Frank Theatres’ CineBowl & Grille, Olive Garden, Mesa Grande Taqueria, Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt, Papaya Asian Kitchen & Bar, Metro Mattress, Red Robin, Subway, Mystique Nail Spa, Sally Beauty, Chat Wireless, Gertrude Hawk Chocolates and Hair Studio One.
The $58 million mixed-use Township 5 project will have 500,000 square feet of space when finished, including retail, offices and a 96-unit apartment complex.
The apartments should be ready this year as well, according to Cameron. A second phase of development, scheduled for completion in 2015, will add office space and more retail spots.
The Township 5 site is bordered by Route 5, Bennett Road and Hinsdale Road.
Speaking of Costco, the Environmental Protection Agency yesterday announced a $2.3 million settlement with the company over leaks of refrigerant at 274 stores. Costco violated the federal Clean Air Act by failing to fix leaking refrigeration equipment between 2004 and 2007, according to the EPA.
The settlement includes a $335,000 fine and an agreement by Costco to spend $2 million over three years to reduce leaks.
