CAMILLUS, NY Bad Axe, a drinking and axe throwing business that plans to open in Township 5 in Camillus, has pushed back its opening.
The club, which combines a bar serving beer and wine with the ability to throw axes at a target, was slated to open in early January.
Founder and owner Mario Zelaya said Bad Axe is now slated to open in late February. The Township 5 location will be in a 3,100-square-foot space next to Branching Out Bottle Shop.
Zelaya said one reason for the delay is that in order to secure a liquor license, the club has to serve some food. That has meant some new drawings and plans for a grease trap, which has pushed back the build-out somewhat, he said.
In addition, Zelaya said they are coordinating other openings, so they don’t all occur at the same time. Bad Axe has more than 20 locations in the United States and Canada.
