Costco is putting its first upstate store in Camillus!
After years of waiting, construction is finally about to get underway on stores and entertainment venues, as well as apartments and offices at Township 5.
The slice of land is 750-thousand square feet, a triangle bordered by Route 5, Hinsdale Road and Bennett Road in Camillus. Site work, clearing and leveling the land as well as moving power and gas lines, is almost done.
Joe Goethe, a partner at Cameron Group, LLC, the developer, says phase 1 is almost 100 percent leased. It includes the Costco warehouse store chain’s first Upstate NY store, as well as a Frank’s Theatre (similar to the Revolutions complex in Destiny).
Goethe says the site will also have lots of restaurants, a mix of national and local establishments, such as Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Robin, Papaya, Mesa Grande and Kafe Kubal.
96 apartment units are being built on the back side of the development, similar to what’s going in the Tri County Mall in Baldwinsville. And, Cameron is building 5 other buildings which will include offices. Goethe says they expect several medical practices in the area to expand to western suburb locations.
Costco is expected to begin building in a couple weeks, and it and many restaurants will open in the fall. The theatre and offices should be coming in, in the spring and the construction phase at Township 5 wraps up.
