Mission approves $165M Gateway project
The Mission City Council approved the $165 million Mission Gateway project in a 5-3 vote Wednesday, The Kansas City Star reports.
Plans for the long-stalled project include $30 million in bonds, with $8.1 million of the bonds backed by the city’s credit. But developer Tom Valenti assured the Council that the risk to the city is minimal.
The project, to be built at the site of the old Mission Mall, will be anchored by a Walmart. It will include a Sprouts Farmer’s Market, Toby Keith‘s I Love This Bar & Grill, 300 apartment units and other unnamed future tenants.
