Camillus, NY -The developer of Township 5 in Camillus, which includes the construction of a Costco, is moving into the housing phase of the $58 million mixed-use project.
The Cameron Group will appear before the town planning board Monday with more detailed plans to build 96, two- and three-bedroom apartments on the property north of the National Grid power lines. The preliminary site plan for project had been approved earlier by the board, said Joe Goethe, principal of the Cameron Group.
The development is bordered by Route 5, Bennett Road and Hinsdale Road.
The plans call for the construction of eight, two-story buildings containing 12 apartments each. Goethe said he could not discuss the plans in detail until the planning board has seen them. The apartments will be within walking distance of the project’s retail and entertainment complex, he said. The developer also plans to build offices.
Construction of the apartments would begin this year with a spring 2015 opening, he said.
People in the area have been eagerly awaiting the construction of the retail portion of the project, particularly the Costco.
House also appears to be desired in the area, Goethe said.
“There’s a lot of people asking for the apartments,” he said. “There seems to be high demand for them in the marketplace.”
