Camillus, N.Y. — Township 5′s latest tenant opens today.
Mesa Grande Taqueria is an Auburn-based restaurant specializing in burritos and tacos. The restaurant’s owner says its style is “California-Mex.”
The Camillus location is Mesa Grande’s third site. In addition to the original Auburn restaurant, a location near Rochester opened earlier this year.
Owner Jim Daddabbo wants to expand more in the future.
The Township 5 location is in the same building as Hair Studio One and T-Mobile. The eatery sports an open kitchen and tables made with 100-year-old reclaimed barn wood.

One other Township 5 note for you: Papaya Asian Kitchen & Bar is out. The restaurant was one of the first tenants announced for Township 5.
Its replacement is Mitsuba Japanese Steakhouse, which has four other locations in New Hartford, Ithaca and Rome. Mitsuba emerged as a new Township 5 tenant earlier this year.
Papaya’s other restaurants are in Buffalo and Rochester.
Township 5 is a $58 million mixed-used development. It’ll have 500,000 square feet of space when finished including retail, offices and a 96-unit apartment complex.
The project is located just off the Hinsdale Road exit of Route 5.
Other tenants include Costco, Subway, Gertrude Hawk Chocolates, Metro Mattress, Longhorn Steakhouse, GNC, Buffalo Wild Wings and Sally Beauty.
Red Robin, Frank Theatres’ CineBowl & Grille, Hoopla! Frozen Yogurt and Mystique Nail Spa are on the way as well.
Construction on the Township 5 apartments is set to begin soon and the second phase of the development, a medical office park, is in the works.
